AMLA - Phyllanthus emblica - Ambhos

 


Amla is the most important fruit according to Hindu mythology. Its scientific name is Phyllanthus Emblica.

Leigh Hunt rightly said, “The groundwork of all happiness is health”.

The Indian gooseberry is rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, iron, calcium & has eight times more vitamin C than oranges.

Here are some facts which make Amla a superfood:

1.       Being rich in antioxidants, it reduces the risk of chronic health conditions. 

2.       It has ten times more vitamin C than oranges thus increases our immunity.

3.       Amla powder when taken with two spoons of honey helps to fight infections and cold.

4.       The alkaline nature of Indian gooseberry helps to prevent constipation.

5.       Since Amla helps in proper metabolism, it balances the weight.

6.       Amla is a proven tonic for hair problems. It helps to control dandruff, prevent hair fall and greying of hair.

7.       Phyllanthus Emblica gives a hydrated and glowing skin.

However, for some Amla doesn’t act as a boon.

1.       Whosoever is giving breastfeeding, should avoid its intake.

2.       Moreover excess of Amla can cause bleeding disorders.

3.       Though Amla is an antidote for diabetes, it is advised to check your glucose level regularly.
