TURMERIC - Ambhos

 


Curcuma, Curcumin, Indian Saffron, Nisha, Pian Jiang Huang, Rajani, Safran Bourbon, Safran de Batallita, well don’t get confused these are different words with the same meaning.

ABOUT:

Turmeric is a spice obtained from the plant. It can be regarded as a universal ingredient. It is not only used as a spice in cooking but also as a  medicine and in healing wounds. Its stem is also used alternative medicine. Not only it provides colour to food but also regarded as a natural aspirin. Turmeric for centuries is being used as herbal medicine because of its antioxidant and inflammatory properties.

 

TURMERIC AS A MEDICINE:




Turmeric is used as medicine in an effective aid in reducing blood cholesterol, inflammation, osteoarthritis. It also helps in reducing stress, pain, depression. Turmeric has a special component called curcumin which helps in the above processes. It is also used as an enema for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Turmeric also helps in overcoming migraine headaches. Curcuma also helps a lot of women in the surviving period cramps and aches. Indian Saffron also helps in detoxifying the body. It is advisable to apply turmeric instantly on any wound as it helps in controlling the blood loss and helps in healing. It is a natural coagulant. It also helps in lowering blood pressure. Turmeric has extreme healing properties.

Even pregnant women are advised to take turmeric. Indian households are often famous for using Indian spices as medical aids and curing diseases. Turmeric milk is often regarded as one of the most beneficial drink be it in cold, tiredness, stress, relieve in joint pains and ache or viral. It is often given when someone gets hurt or wounded. While during the covid19 pandemic it was advised by most of the doctors and health advisors to keep drinking turmeric milk as it is great for immunity and having it once a day will keep enhancing body’s immunity and fight stronger with covid19.

 

TURMERIC AS A SPICE:



TURMERIC has an earthy, pungent, slightly bittersweet flavour and looks like a knobby root like ginger. It is one of the most important spices in our kitchen not only because of it smell ad colouring properties but also for its medical properties such as weight managing, preventing chronic diseases. Turmeric adds flavour and essence. What’s better than having something that helps in relieving pain as well as is mouth-watering. Turmeric can be used in turmeric latte, turmeric smoothie, curry soup. It can also be added to tea and beverages.

 

SIDE EFFECTS:

There are many reasons which may lead to side effects of turmeric.

· Long and a high dose of turmeric supplements maybe lead to side effects.

· Mild nausea is possible if you take a high dose of turmeric or you do not like its taste.

· Having turmeric cooked in curry hasn’t been related to stomach issues, but high doses of turmeric over a prolonged period have been found to aggravate gastrointestinal infections.

· Some people may also get allergic to turmeric.
